World War One - Bill Rone

I know very little about this period of Daddy's life. I do know that he didn't go overseas. He was in a training camp somewhere in Texas. He was one of the thousands of soldiers that were hit with the flu epidemic. After he recovered, he was discharged. I think he was too young to be called for duty when the war started, and when he was called, the war was almost over.

Maola was just a little girl, but she remembers 'Sister' (as she called Mother) walking to the end of the lane to meet Daddy when he came to see her after he was discharged. He had been her beau for three or four years, and they strolled slowly from the end of the lane to the house.
